Bonus book for the cubic foot of art—the Coptic Janus journal.
I had extra room in a box, and a Coptic-bound book to finish before Paper and Book Intensive workshop, so I can get some instruction there on doing the headbands correctly. This journal has a signature for each decade of my life, with a classic image of the Roman god Janus in the center of each one. Janus is the god of transitions, time, past and present, entrances. He looks both forward to the future and back to the past. I was thinking about how hard it is to remember what is was like mentally in each decade of life—what was recently past and how the uncertainties of the future appeared then. I am thinking of a series of Coptic books for my next big project, so this journal is appropriately transitional.
