moon box 2016

After a decade of staring at an older work, I finally decided to tear it apart and rework components as two pieces. I have gradually learned to simplify and not try to combine too much into one piece, which has left a long trail of bad art. This part is a box/book with forged sun-moon hinges (sun is bronze melted on steel). Phases of moon spiral out on sandblasted glass, with a rear reflective surface to double the image. Drawings of comets and nebulae from an old book. Zodiac symbols circle the sides.
